Am I allowed to park near someones house, given their permission?
I just have a question with that, I live in El Paso,Tx.
One day I had asked a friend to see if her parents would allow me to park my car by the sidewalk that accompanies her house, they agreed and gave me permission just to be on the safe side.
As I returned from school, I walked to my car to find a note on my windshield that read, “Next time you park here I will call the cops and have your car towed….DONT do it AGAIN.” I didnt park near anyone elses property only in the area that my friends parents let me park, not the neighbors. Do I still have the right to park there? I know its a public street and I pay taxes for the darn city streets.
Can anyone help? Cause I asked my friend again and I was planning on doing that tomorrow but I’m afraid my car wont be there when I get back….
In general you don’t need permission to park your car on a public right of way. However, in many cities you can’t leave it there for more than 72 hours.
I park my car every day on the street and often in the same place twice in row. I have never been asked to not park my car in front of someones house.
I would check with your local laws because they can and do vary by city. One of my friends lives in a suburb that does not allow overnight street parking period. He can’t park his own car in front of his own house or any other place overnight because it is illegal where he lives.
